Los Angeles alt-rock outfit Starling have released their newest EP Forgive Me, out on vinyl and digital platforms via Sunday Drive Records. The seven-track release dives deep into the emotional spectrum of love—its breathless beginnings, its turbulent center, and its quiet unraveling. Blending raw guitars with sweeping moments of stillness, Forgive Me captures the band’s sonic evolution as they lean into a heavier, more cathartic sound without losing the softness at their core.
Leading the charge is the standout single “I Can Be Convinced,” a track that swells with emotional chaos. Kasha Souter Willett’s sultry vocals glide over soaring guitar textures and relentless percussion, offering a gripping portrait of surrendering to love's consuming force. Directed by David Milan Kelly, the single’s accompanying music video—set against a surreal backdrop of ballerinas—further blurs the line between vulnerability and volatility. The follow-up single, “No Frown,” slows things down to reflect on the sweetness of small-town romance. Backed by acoustic guitar and sweeping string arrangements, Kasha and guitarist Gitai trade wistful vocals that recall the tender ache of memory.
“Our record reflects the longing of its title, Forgive Me,” Starling explain. “There is regret, loss, and eventually acceptance in the material. We began writing these songs in 2024, and most of the recordings are informed by what we do in our live performance. To the band, this is not an EP, as it is over 30 minutes and conceptually tied together through every song. But it’s also not really an LP. It is only 7 songs. So we don’t really care what you call it. This work feels like a transition—for the band, and the sentiment in the music.”
Since forming in 2023, Starling have remained a staple of the West Coast indie circuit, releasing their debut EP 2324 through cassette label Pleasure Tapes and sharing stages with bands like Cryogeyser, Flooding, and Devon Ross. With a nationwide tour alongside Glixen kicking off next month, Forgive Me sets the tone for what promises to be a defining year for the band.
