Jimmy Eat World Set To Headline Hollywood Bowl on November 7th
Jimmy Eat World and The Format are coming together at one of the most iconic venues in the world to celebrate two historic albums. Rock icons Jimmy Eat World will perform their acclaimed album, Bleed American, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of its release and beloved indie artist The Format will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their sophomore album, Dog Problems, at the famed Hollywood Bowl on Saturday, November 7th. This exclusive show marks the first time these two Arizona artists will perform together on this legendary stage and is one of only two full album performances scheduled for The Format this year.
Jimmy Eat World is currently on tour for the 25th anniversary of Bleed American, the band’s landmark album, and marks their triumphant return to the Vans Warped Tour stage, in all five cities. Fans can expect to hear the entirety of Bleed American, including “Sweetness,” “The Middle” and “Hear You Me,” along with much more. The Format, led by Nate Ruess and Sam Means, will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Dog Problems, their sophomore album, featuring the title track, “She Doesn’t Get It” and “The Compromise.” After nearly two decades apart, The Format reunited to revive the alt-rock, grunge, and pop-punk sounds they first bonded over as teenagers.

Jimmy Eat World — one of the most successful and enduring alternative-rock bands of their generation — celebrate a landmark moment in 2026: the 25th anniversary of their seminal album Bleed American. The record not only launched the Mesa, Arizona, quartet into global recognition but helped define the sound of 2000's alternative rock and the wave of emotionally driven, melodic guitar music that followed.
Originally released July 24, 2001, via DreamWorks Records, Bleed American showcased the band at a creative peak. The record produced a run of enduring hits: the explosive title track “Bleed American,” the “sing it back” stadium-bright “Sweetness,” the celebratory fan favorite “A Praise Chorus,” and the crossover smash “The Middle.” That last one hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart, reached No. 5 on the Hot 100 during a 33-week run, earned RIAA platinum status, and in 2024 joined Spotify’s Billions Club — which may have received a slight bump after Taylor Swift lip-synced the song in a commercial for Apple Music. In 2025, “The Middle” was named one of Rolling Stone’s 250 Greatest Songs of the 21st Century So Far.
Bleed American’s 25th anniversary was made extra special when the RIAA bestowed the album with double-platinum certification on July 24, 2026. The album's legacy can be felt in a new generation of artists—from pop-rock and mainstream alternative acts to the 2010s emo-revival scene. Bands such as Paramore, The Wonder Years, The Maine, Hot Mulligan, and countless others have cited Jimmy Eat World’s melodic clarity, emotional honesty, and guitar-driven precision as foundational to their own work. Its reach also extends to major pop and indie artists who have referenced the album’s songwriting approach and sonic balance as a blueprint for mixing intimacy with widescreen hooks.
Beyond the studio, Jimmy Eat World has become mainstays at major festivals around the world, including When We Were Young, Lollapalooza, Coachella, Reading, Leeds, Southside, and Hurricane, and have appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and Saturday Night Live. Their contributions to Arizona’s music legacy were recognized in 2024 as October 17 was declared Jimmy Eat World Day in Phoenix, AZ.
