Melbourne-based artist and producer Alice Ivy released her new single “Close to You,” featuring musical spitfire Flint Eastwood, on February 22nd via LastGang/eOne globally and Dew Process in Australia.

This comes exactly a year after the release of her first album I’m Dreaming, which recently was longlisted for the distinguished Australian Music Prize. Since then, Ivy has performed over fifty shows in and out of Australia alongside electronic duo Flight Facilities, Vera Blue, and the Jungle Giants.

Eclectic and diverse, Ivy has teamed up with Eastwood— also known as Jax Anderson— for “Close to You” after befriending each other at an Australia-based event, The Fall Festivals. Their friendship as well as musical collaboration created a strong pair, particularly given their theatrical and energetic live performances. The single was born from a trip made to Eastwood’s hometown of Detroit shortly afterwards.

Assembled over the process of several months, thousands of miles, an abandoned studio in Texas, and a historic church-turned-studio in Detroit, this sparklingly single packs a strong punch. Each verse feels new and fresh, rising up as it nears the chorus with the aid of Ivy and Eastwood’s distinctive beats melding into vocal and instrumental harmony. With various synthesizers intermingling with kalimba and punching lyrics, the track creates an infectious energy.

Alice Ivy released her first music in 2015 and went on to win the 2016 Triple J Unearthed Listen Out competition. With a background in hip hop, electronic pop, and various experimental influences, Ivy is well on her way to becoming one of Australia’s most renowned breaking artists.
