With swag, style, and rhymes hotter than spitfire, hip-hop power duo Blimes and Gab release new single “Feelin’ It.” Aptly named, the tune and accompanying music video are just as infectious and colorful as the MCs themselves.

The hip-hop and rap scene on the West Coast has garnered a considerable name for itself, especially within the realm of rising femme artists. Cities throughout California— not just LA— all the way up to Washington have been boasting some top notch women with insanely good bars. Portland’s Wynne, Oakland’s Kamaiyah, and many more have been making significant waves. Two top ladies repping the West Coast are San Francisco’s Blimes Brixton and Seattle’s Gifted Gab.

Before they came together as a team, each already had their own eye-popping beats and heavy verses. In fact, Blimes used to go by Oh Blimey and was known for dominating rap battles in and around her area. On the other side, Gab, has been rapping since 2012. Between the two, they’ve collaborated with the likes of Method Man from Wu Tang Clan, Warren G, De La Sol, and numerous others.

However, Blimes and Gab have only come together relatively recently to collaborate on songs like the supremely cool, lo-fi-infused 2018 single, “Come Correct.” The song and video immediately went viral— both of which are notably calm and refined while still keeping the funk. The two rappers’ suavity can often feel like a modern take on uber-cool jazz musicians from the 1930’s. No one can touch them, and no one should try.

The smooth and punchy song “Nasty,” also from 2018, shows the duo flexing how relevant they are under the name B.A.G. The song showcases their hard work as artists and it’s quite clear that they’re here for the long haul. Not only are Blimes and Gab incredibly smart and cunning lyricists, they’re polished through and through. Their video content and photos are aesthetically strong and produced with a clear purpose. And when they have an idea, they go for it.

In their newest collaboration, “Feelin’ It,” Blimes and Gab represent the purest form of femme power in a previously male dominated industry. The music video follows them spitting bars back-and-forth while they are at a packed house party enjoying themselves. It’s a feel-good song that also brings in the “big auntie energy”— their words, not ours. They’re cool, they know it, and they’re feelin’ it.

Blimes and Gab will embark on a short tour together next Friday, October 25th kicking off in Los Angeles. Listen to “Feelin’ It” on all streaming platforms and be sure to keep an eye out for new material.
