Julien Baker performed fragile, emotive songs to a mostly silent crowd at Thalia Hall in Chicago. Her exquisitely somber songs were moving and rife with despair as the crowd listened in awe. Turn Out the Lights, her new LP, was released on October 27th, 2017 and has two singles Funeral Pyre and Distant Solar Systems.
Julien was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. She wrote songs that would become the studio album Sprained Ankle her freshman year while attending Middle Tennessee State University. She has opened for acts such as Paramore, Death Cab for Cutie, Conor Oberst, The Decemberists, and Belle & Sebastian.
Currently she signed to Matador Records.
